I love the Southern series by Natasha Madison and this book is no exception. This book has intrigue, steam, and the best HEA. Chelsea is Beau and Savannah’s daughter. She moves home after completing nursing school. Babysitting for her brother Ethan, one evening, she opens the door to a bloody, beaten and bruised man. This man is her secret crush, Mayson.Soon Chelsea becomes embroiled in helping Mayson recover from his attack – spending more time with him only reenforces how much she cares for him. Chelsea is strong, independent and sassy. Mayson is a man with a past that has come back to haunt him and now Chelsea has been pulled into the fray. He is a strong, damaged and sexy alpha who fell for Chelsea on sight, but feels that he is not good enough for her!The plot intertwines the growing relationship between Chelsea and Mayson and the search for the culprit who attacked him. Along with Chelsea and Mayson, all my favorites from prior books appear and are integral to this story. This book is in turns emotional, steamy, and intriguing. It kept me engaged from start to finish. Definitely, a must for any TBR. This book is so poorly written. The story is underdeveloped, the author repeats the same words over and over as if she doesn't have any other vocabulary, and there is absolutely no depth to any of the characters. I wanted to write a review right after I read the book but Decided against it since it would be entirely negative. However, every time I see it in my library it makes me angry I paid for this. It's jumbled and there is absolutely no flow to the story. She's met him only a couple of times in her life before she has to take care of him and Immediately she's confessing her love to him. It's ridiculous. And the reader can't figure out if he's just a sensitive guy or trying to be an alpha. He goes from crying often, to being demanding about "his woman". Just doesn't make any sense. Plus, on one page of the book, he's been stabbed 5 times and shot and then literally 4 days later, he's carrying her off to bed like he's completely fine. lol It's laughable the over-the-top speeches she gives on what a good man he is and How he deserves her when they've literally only spent 5 minutes together. I had to force myself to finish reading this and spent most of the time rolling my eyes.Don't spend your money on this.
